WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN COACHING AND THERAPY?
Therapy generally focuses on healing past experiences that interfere with your living a full and productive life. Life Coaching focuses on where you are presently and your desired future. We begin with your goals — sometimes clarifying or revising them as you identify, develop, and try new strategies toward your successful outcome. If roadblocks appear, we address them directly, with no judgment, and discover productive ways around them. Along the way, you will learn more about your personality — how you can capitalize on your natural assets and minimize the deficits in all aspects of your life. Coaching works for both professional and personal situations, including improving relationships, leadership issues, stress management, executive functioning, etc. Coaching often has therapeutic benefits in that you feel better, are more successful, and feel content about your life.
HOW DOES INDIVIDUAL AND GROUP COACHING WORK?
Individual and group coaching work because you and your coach together – either as individuals or as individuals in your group – catalyze the power inherent in human communication: you set the agenda with your or your group’s issues, and through dialogue, you and I or you, I and your group tap into the creative power between two or more people who are working towards a common goal. You find solutions that allow you to resolve your issues.
HOW MANY SESSIONS ARE INVOLVED IN INDIVIDUAL AND GROUP COACHING?
Individual coaching typically involves a minimum of 8 weekly sessions. Most of my clients work with me for 3-12 months and more because, after achieving their initial goal, they are charged up to go after others. Group Coaching involves 7 sessions for your group to master the art of Inquiry, as a tool that your group can use on its own on an as-needed basis when difficulties arise.
WHAT DOES COACHING COST? DO YOU TAKE INSURANCE?
Please contact me for my current rates and packages. I do not take insurance. I am not a healthcare professional, although you should expect to feel better as a result of our work together.
CAN I COME FOR ONE SESSION TO EXPERIENCE COACHING OR INQUIRY?
Yes, you may come on a session-to-session basis if you are interested in doing Inquiry; however, I highly recommend regular use of this process and offer an on-going weekly group class.
WHAT IS INQUIRY?
Inquiry is a quick and dirty method to defuse difficult situations that are blocking you in your life, or as I like to say, are causing you to suffer. The process takes about 1 to 1¼ -hour per session and involves me facilitating you through a series of questions that open you to new possibilities and solutions. When you do Inquiry with rigor and regularity, you can radically increase productivity, action, clarity, and contentment in your life. WHAT ARE THE ENNEAGRAM AND EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE?
The Enneagram is a personality typing system that maps 9 distinct styles people have. Each style operates differently like different computer operating systems. It explains why people see the world so differently and have different definitions of success and different motivations. You believe your personality type is who you are until you learn this system and see that you are so much more. Your style both serves and limits you at the same time. Knowing your style puts you on the fast track to reaching your coaching goals. I will help you find your Enneagram type in our sessions. I don’t recommend taking the online typing inventories because they cause more confusion than they are worth. Your Emotional Intelligence develops more rapidly when you become aware of how your type operates in your life.
